Shelly’s Adventures is an EdTech and media company building the future of American Sign Language (ASL) education for children.
Built on a foundation of original storytelling and publishing, we combine books, live experiences, and digital innovation to bridge the gap between the Deaf and hearing world—one child at a time.
Our Story
Shelly’s Adventures was founded by author, publisher, and educator Kentrell Martin, inspired by his personal experience growing up with a Deaf brother. From an early age, Kentrell saw both the beauty of American Sign Language and the challenges that come from a lack of understanding between the Deaf and hearing communities.
He created Shelly’s Adventures to introduce children and families to ASL and Deaf culture in a way that is fun, engaging, and easy to understand.
What began as a book series has grown into a national movement—and is now evolving into a technology-driven education platform.

As the publisher and creator of the Shelly’s Adventures series, we develop original stories designed to teach American Sign Language in a fun and engaging way.
Shelly’s Adventures has grown into a nationally recognized educational experience, reaching:

Through interactive school visits, students don’t just hear stories—they actively participate, engage, and learn.
Each experience introduces American Sign Language in a way that allows students to learn 60–90 signs in a single visit, helping them build communication skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of inclusion.
